NWOB Capodimonte Artist - Laurenz Name "La Fotomodella" Italy approximate measurements are: 14" Tall x 13" Wide x 9" Deep This stunning piece comes from an estate. The owner was a photographer who sold collectibles. This extraordinary piece by artist Laurenz, depicts a photographer and his model. Capodimonte was the name given to the finest Italian porcelain created under the auspices of Chas V11 in the 1700's. Since then, the term "Capodimonte" is a guarantee of certain exacting standards that are not found in typical lighter weight ceramics. (This time honored art has not changed in the course of hundreds of years) Upon completion of a model of this kind of sculpture, it may be broken up into many individual molds and a sculpture this large may need over a hundred pieces. The next step is firing at temperatures exceeding 1000 degrees and then the plaster molds are complete. There are many more steps to the process but it is finely made. This piece is rich in color and mounted on a wooden base.
